Why you should buy a One Plus phone in 2020!
Trust me when I say I use my phone a lot. Not a lot like I will constantly make calls but more like I ingest everything that internet in it’s full glory has to give. And for me my devices have to handle the load. I throw everything there is – Social media, games, videos, photos, camera, alarms, reminder, emails, messages, calls, you name it! And it’s only for a few devices, that I can say, with full trust that it will handle.
And no, I don’t need the high refresh rate or higher RAMs or higher storage capacity or fanciest of cameras. Of course it would be a lot better if I had all of those but I am not your high end TAKE MY KIDNEY AND GIVE ME AN IPHONE kind of person. I am an average user. I pick my devices with many things into consideration and so I thought it would be only fair to jot down some of the reasons I had for buying the new One Plus 8.

Here are my top 5 reasons why you should buy a One Plus in 2020
1. Games and Multitasking
If you don’t play games on your phone (no, I am not including candy crush in “games”), then you are sadly missing out a whole lot of fun. Even if it stress busters or action packed FPS games, mobile gaming has become a new trend. Consoles have slowly understood that and so have the major game developers. Games like PUBG, Fortnite, Call of Duty, etc have a huge fan base among Mobile gamers. And if you want one thing out of your phone, it’s the ability to handle these games without any hiccups. My first One plus phone was a One Plus 5 which I bought around 3 years ago or more and it still can run all major games like it is nothing. This device is almost made for graphic intensive usage.
Multitasking is a another ice breaker. If you are anything like me, you will have a gazillion apps going around in the background. From Spotify to the camera app that you opened the day before yesterday, it still is running in the background. And with the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chip in the latest 8 lineup, the phone just flies. You can throw anything at this beast and it will still give you the same experience day in and out.
2. Android 11 / Oxygen OS 11
I still reminisce the time when Android version were named after a sweet but I guess they got bored or they just wanted to sound like Apple’s iOS versions . Whatever the case, the new Oxygen OS 11 (One Plus’s variant of Android 11 ) brings out the best in Software and Hardware. The phone looks even better, if that is even possible! And everything from the power menu on long pressing of the power button or the new weather app or the new gallery or even the calling screen looks AMAZING! I got my phone updated to the Oxygen OS 11 a couple of days ago and I have been drooling over it. I have seen all that it has to offer and yet it still feels so new and exciting.
Oxygen OS , even before 11, were still no BS OS. They didn’t have any useless bloatwares or no overlays (hint Samsung) or never did they lag after long term use. They have , in the past 5 years, made devices that are nothing short of brilliant. I am sure I can still use a 3T and have no issues with the phone. The software mingles with the hardware in a fashion that brings out only the best in the phones.
3. Fast Charging/WARP Charge
Previously the phone had what’s called Fast Charging which later got changed into WARP charging. And boy did they do that! With the included 30 watt Power adapter in the box, this phone charges from 0 – 68% (approx.) in 30 minutes. I normally never charge it over night because I don’t have to! The battery lasts through all day and with a battery of around 4500mAH, it is more than enough to handle the day to day grind that my phone gets. Even with previous models with smaller batteries, the fast charge or the WARP charge makes life easier. The only downside being that the charger brick or the power brick is bigger than most of the other chargers in the market. But with the performance that it gets, I am not complaining.
Also, fast charging everytime can’t be good for your phone so your One Plus comes with Battery Optimizer to make sure you don’t ruin your batteries while in the process.
4. Display
One Plus phones from 7T and up come with 90 – 120 Hz display as per the model you choose. The One Plus 8 has a 90 hz display while the 8 pro and the newly launched 8T has a 120 Hz display. The different between 60 Hz (almost all normal phones) and 90/120 Hz is massive. You will never feel anything that smooth. The scrolling and gaming performance is insane. This was one of the reasons why I bought my phone but even with this I still think that 120 Hz is an overkill for me. For what I do mostly with my phone, 90 Hz is more than enough and it delivers. The phone is plenty bright and has no glare in sunlight. I can still see my phone very clearly in harshest of the sunlight and still use it without any issues.
5. Camera
One Plus phones are weird in this department. I say weird because they always have good hardware but their camera software never actually does justice to the hardware. Even in my previous One Plus device I was using a GCAM Mod and it would give amazing results. Mind you the hardware is still the same, but the software makes hell of a difference when you are pushing it. Even now, I have a stock camera app and a GCAM mod alongside because sometimes, the stock camera doesn’t do justice. The high megapixel means nothing if the photos aren’t crispy or with proper HDR.
Credit where credit is due, even when most of the phones didn’t have a professional mode, One plus devices came with proper Pro Mode in camera app. I have taken countless night shots from my phone and with a little bit of post production, they look amazing!
One Plus has been a savior to those who can’t afford a S20 Ultra or the 11 pro max or the newest 12 pro max or whatever the world has to offer. It isn’t cheap, for say but it is best for the range. With the new line up of One Plus Nord, I don’t see why anyone would buy anything else but these phones. And with all the development of 2020- high end games, virtual classes, virtual meet ups, virtual everything, One Plus has clearly been the One Stop phone for me and countless others. No wonder they have a very loyal fanbase all around the world.
If you like what I wrote or have any comments on it, please feel free to let me know and I’ll definitely get back to you. And if you have a One Plus Device, let me know why you like/love/hate it.
