Love

In between the 4 walls,

we created a fortress for ourselves,

and every time her voice echoed in the room,

I could feel my lips arch,

hopelessly falling for her every time that happens,

helplessly staring at her face and

smiling like the world around me doesn’t matter

and that she’s the only one I want to spend the rest of my

years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds,

heart beats with.

She touches my face with her hands

as I admire her curls in mine.

She tells me my freckles remind her of something she can’t place

maybe something from a past life or just

something that is meant for her to kiss and adore.

In all my existence, I have never been told that,

not once has someone told me how beautiful my freckles are

and made me tear up.

She kisses my eyelids and slides to my lips

slowly breathing life into me.

And as she touches my forehead with hers,

and we breathe in each other,

we just fall in love again,

and again, for the umpteenth time,

Just like the first time.

She grabs my body into her arms and

holds me like a mamma bear holds her cubs,

like an old tree hugs the birds with her leaves,

like nothing I have ever felt before.

Its my safe space, between her arms

and slathered across her chest,

a place where I can cry and break down

and love and feel loved

and not judged for my choices in life

and the mistakes that I have made

or the mistakes that I have met.

We spend nights and days,

suns and moons,

loving each other and

holding each other

because that is what love is.

Love is an undying, unyielding support for one another,

admiration about the smallest things you never noticed,

the loudest cheer and the harshest critic.

Love is something that makes you better together.
